40K - Codex mini-story
Amidst all the craziness of NaNo, I got a spark for a story to include my upcoming Lords of Oblivion supplemental codex. It's basically one of those 1-2 page stories they used to have in every codex that fills out the feel of the faction. It's rather sad most of those kinds of stories have largely vanished from contemporary books. But not with mine!
Anyway, here's the story. Enjoy!

TG: Giant Freaking Robots
I just rewatched Pacific Rim last night, a movie which I found just as entertaining as when it first came out last year. If I haven't mentioned it before, I frigging love giant robots. I distinctly recall as a kid being hooked on Technoman/Tekkaman Blade and Battletech, and then later getting into other franchises like Gundam, Macross, Escaflowne, Mechwarrior, Armored Core, Front Mission, and, of course, Warhammer 40,000.
I guess it's not too surprising I've been thinking about giant robots in my own universe, and I've actually put together quite a few details over the years. You may recall reading about them a little bit in the novel excerpts I posted, and the All-Terrain Suit does feature in that book. I have plans to make at least one video game about them, too.
So here's the major categories of description. If I've missed anything, let me know, and I'll add it.

Scrapbook #3
More randomness! We've got a dash of comedy, a vague parable, more comedy, and another story featuring the writer's group in a new situation, and thus is a kinda/sorta sequel to a previous story.
And no, I haven't forgotten about the prompt stories. I'm working on several articles right now, including reviews of the Space Wolves and Grey Knights books, a review of The Damnation of Pythos, and an original article for my universe. Once I get those out of the way, I'll hammer out another prompt story.

Scrapbook #2
Here's another batch of writings! Some randomness, and some cohesive narratives, all written in five minutes or less. At some point along here, I decided to challenge myself to try and make as many of these stories set within my game world as I could, so many of them are just that. A few aren't, though, and one or two recurring characters make a return.
Anyway, enjoy!

Scrapbook #1
I've been going to a writing group nearly every week for the last eight or nine months, and just realized I've accumulated a fair amount of random bits of writing material as a result. Our group activities typically consist of several rounds of impromptu writing based on a HUGE variety of writing prompts, typically only having 1-3 minutes to write, and then reading our works aloud. Rather than just let them collect dust in a combination of my notebooks and a Google Docs file, I figured I'd put some of it up on here.
Most of it is fairly random, but there's a few recurring characters/narratives here and there. You'll laugh (maybe), you'll cry (maybe)! The prompt will be before each story too, for context.

40K - Codex: Lords of Oblivion (preview)
It has been far too long since I posted anything for my Lords of Oblivion on here. That should change. I've been slowly working on a complete overhaul to my Codex: Lords of Oblivion. Haven't done much of late, but the fluff part is largely done. Also, in light of how 6th, and now 7th, edition have been turning out, I've decided to re-do it as a supplement to Codex: Space Marines, rather than a full-blown codex. Which will save a ton of time in formatting work and balancing.
Anyway, for now, enjoy a preview of the fluff section, in the form of one of those timelines GW's been doing in all their books for a while now.

Godzilla: A Veteran's Review
I saw the new Godzilla movie over this past weekend. After watching it, I felt like compiling a list of the military inaccuracies of the movie, and generally sharing my thoughts, as this is a sub-genre of films I've rather come to enjoy in the last couple years. As a veteran, Hollywood movies are always good for a laugh in the aspects of military life and operations they get wrong, and this one was no exception.
Sufficed to say, spoilers ahead.

Prompt Story #2: Interview With a Shartu
So I had a bad day yesterday. Without getting into too many details, a number of things went wrong for me, and I found myself alone and bored with no internet. On the plus side, said boredom got me to finally hammer out another prompt-based story, and here it is. Coincidentally, this one is also set in Kunskaborg, like the first story. I should make sure the next one is set somewhere else, I've got plenty of Terranis to explore.
“While writing an autobiography,
A 400-year old vampire,
Comes down with short term memory loss.”

40K: Crimson Slaughter review
The latest in a long string of supplemental army books has been released, and I've decided to actually start talking about them, even the ones that aren't necessarily relevant to me, because everyone should hear my opinion on everything, clearly. So, I'm gonna take a look today at the Crimson Slaughter supplement, having had a chance to read through it, and give my thoughts, in a similar format to my Clan Raukaan review.

Prompt story #1: The Awkward Vow
Well, finally found time to sit down for a couple hours and hammer out the first story inspired by a prompt from The Amazing Story Generator. Not surprisingly, it turned out to be something a bit silly, yet it still made sense, and I suppose I had some room for hilarity. Did hilarity ensue? Well, read on! The prompt was:
“After vowing to not bathe for a year
A Nobel-prize winning physicist
decides to get married on a whim.”

Housekeeping!
Ahh, what a hectic couple of months. I think it's time for some new material here, don't you agree?
So, I'm doing some general clean-up around here, and let's talk for a second about my plans for this year.
